South Dakota families seeking youth gender-affirming care, after it was banned with the passage of House Bill 1080 in 2023, can apply for support for such care with a new nonprofit partnership.

Saturday morning will mark the first-ever Prism Center Rainbow Run 5K. Proceeds raised will benefit the Prism Center — South Dakota’s only community center for LGBTQ2S+ citizens. It is meant to be a safe space and support system filled with resources, especially for youth.

“A staggering 93% of transgender teens live in states that have either enacted or proposed laws that would restrict their rights - according to a new report from the Williams Institute at University of California, Los Angeles' School of Law.”

“This lawsuit is just the latest attempt to erase transgender people from society,” Chapman said in a news release. “This intolerance against a marginalized group of people is a distraction from our state’s real needs and hurts us all.”

The staff and leadership of PFund are thrilled to announce the recipients of the foundation’s 2024 Moxie Awards. The Moxies are an annual event hosted by PFund Foundation that celebrates the queer individuals and organizations who help build equity for LGBTQ+ communities across the Upper Midwest.

“The state had pulled our funding for the community health worker program here at the Transformation Project right after I had started in the position," Fonder said. "Gov. Noem was not okay with the people that we were serving with that, so she decided to pull our funding.”
