Longtime South Dakota LGBTQ+ Activist Honored for His Efforts

“BROOKINGS, S.D. — Lawrence Novotny has spent the majority of his life advocating for the LGBTQ+ community in South Dakota and was a recent recipient of the 2025 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Transformation Project on March 7 at their 3rd annual gala in Sioux Falls.

The Transformation Project is a non-profit organization committed to supporting and empowering transgender individuals and their families in South Dakota and the surrounding region about gender identity and expression. Novotny, who resides in Brookings, was honored for his lifelong commitment to advancing equality and justice for the transgender community.”
