Advocates Rally Against “Bathroom Ban” Bill

“SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - The South Dakota legislature is deep into session with Crossover Day quickly approaching on Tuesday. As lawmakers consider various bills, groups around the state gathered to rally against House Bill 1259.
2025 is another consecutive year where protests or rallies have been held outside of legislative coffees in Sioux Falls, all of them regarding the same topic: transgender rights.
On a short 24-hour notice, organizers like The Transformation Project mobilized groups in Sioux Falls, Huron and Rapid City to rally against HB1259.”

“There are so few trans South Dakotans, but their voices and their lives matter,” stated South Dakota ACLU Advocacy Manager Samantha Chapman. “They need allies today and every day and we can’t just stop showing up to support their human rights and their human dignity year after year.”
